Entrepeneur of the month: YoungCapital
Since 2018 an establishment of recruitment agency YoungCapital can be found in student complex Ravel Residence. A good reason to get acquainted! Because what is it exactly that YoungCapital does and who is sitting at the office when you walk in looking for a job?
After her masters in Communication Sciences Anne Vijfhuize started in 2017 as a recruiter at YoungCapital and has recently become site manager of this location in Amsterdam south. She tells us all about the company YoungCapital, what you as a student or young professional can expect from YoungCapital and why she likes this location in student complex Ravel Residence so much.
Somewhere in an attic
Somewhere in an attic in the year 2000 YoungCapital was founded by 3 male students. At the time it was called ‘Studentenwerk’ (student jobs). As a job board, employers were able to post their vacancies and students could apply online. Easy, fast and goal oriented. But it didn’t take long before they also started to focus on deployment and then grew into a recruitment agency with the largest student database in Europe and 28 YoungCapital offices throughout the Netherlands. Because of this growth the name changed to YoungCapital 6 years ago. "YoungCapital focuses on students, start-ups and young professionals and, in doing so, serves not only as a temporary employment agency, but also as an advisory partner about the new generation at work", says Anne.
‘’Our office in student complex Ravel Residence is the newest location of YoungCapital and I like it a lot. Not only because we are right among our target audience and close to customers in the area, but also because the atmosphere here is very relaxed and informal. For example, we conduct job interviews in the lounge and that immediately creates a more relaxed vibe. The door to our office is literally always open and residents can walk in when they are looking for a job or when they just want some advice about their motivation letter, C.V. or pitch. But it is also possible to arrange everything from behind your computer. Because of our online visibility, we have an incredible large database. All you have to do is create an account, then specify your preferences and you will automatically be matched to the vacancies that best suit you. Because we are located throughout the country, the range and diversity of vacancies is very large ", says Anne.
In addition to finding you a side job during your studies or first job after your studies, you can also have YoungCapital NEXT train you as a young professional. Anne: ‘’At YoungCapital NEXT you can follow courses and traineeships. All these courses have a focus on learning and working in practice. For example, if you are following a traineeship, you will gain experience at one or more companies and at the same time you will also receive various courses on both business and personal level. All while you are guided through the entire process by someone from YoungCapital NEXT. This way you can learn and work at the same time and there is a good chance that you already have a good job at a large company when you graduate.’’
At last Anne has a very useful career tip: ‘’How cliché it may sound, it is really important that you do something that you really enjoy. Put time and effort into finding out what this is and which company suits you best. For example, you can make a list of all the things that you like and dislike about your current job and then look for the position that fits well with your preferences. Also engage in conversation with as many people and companies as possible to explore the various options and corporate cultures and discover what kind of organization you see yourself enjoying working in.’’
