Construction of 800 student apartments in Zuidas, Amsterdam starts today
The construction of the student apartment complex Ravel Residence in Zuidas, Amsterdam begins today, realizing 800 student apartments. This new student housing complex at the De Boelelaan, Amsterdam is the most extensive private student housing initiative in Amsterdam.
Amsterdam Alderpersons Van Poelgeest and Ossel, Jan Snel Bouw manager Van Zandwijk, and Ravel Residence initiators Verweij and Mungra were all present as construction began. Johan Verweij, director of Verweij Mungra Vastgoed states: “We are very pleased that the construction of this innovative student housing complex has commenced. Living in such a prime location will be an exciting experience for students. It is a place where you can stay, enjoy life, relax, study, work and meet other people. We are working towards the realization of new student apartments within the “Student Experience” project. Student housing is in great demand in Amsterdam; we have already received 400 applications. Living in Zuidas
The developments in Zuidas continue, with a growing interest in diversity and housing projects. The incorporation of housing projects is an important step in the creation of a mixed and lively city centre. Zuidas is also a prime location for students; Ravel Residence is within walking distance of Amsterdam VU university, train stations RAI and Amsterdam Zuid. Downtown Amsterdam can be easily reached by bike, as well as all the facilities and services Zuidas has to offer. Maarten van Poelgeest, Alderperson for Spatial Planning, is excited about the start of the student housing project in Zuidas: “A new student housing complex will, among other things, gradually transform Zuidas into a genuine Amsterdam city district with a broad housing and rental market. On top of that, students will contribute to the liveliness of the area.”
The modern and innovative student housing complex Ravel Residence is located at the corner of the De Boelelaan and the Antonio Vivaldistraat in Zuidas, Amsterdam. The complex features 800 student apartments, each with a private kitchen and bathroom. The complex offers a broad range of services such as a grand café with an outdoor facility, a hip lounge, study facilities, an employment agency, a launderette, private dining rooms and the option of family doctor consultations. The roof features a sports field as well as city farming. There will be a caretaker during the day and every night there will be a security guard who can be called with a personal app. The complex is a five-storey building with a private communal garden, located in the centre.
Ravel Residence is a Student Experience initiative. The complex will be built according to a unique and modular construction concept by building contractor Jan Snel Bouw BV, market leader in modular construction. With such a complete concept and more than 50 years of experience in modular construction this firm is offering the perfect solution to this housing issue. The building was designed by the Amsterdam architect’s firm OeverZaaijer. The student apartments will be used for a period of 12 years.
